Bonnie Murphy All About Me: Wife, Mother, and Teacher
I am excited to begin my second year as Crossroads' Math Intervention Teacher (M.I.T.)! This year I will continue to work with Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students. It is my goal to assist students in gaining confidence and a love for learning math. In intervention we focus on early numeracy skills and developing a conceptual understanding of math through hands on learning opportunities, math talks, and much more!
I am entering my 10th year as an educator. I have taught 7 years in 1st grade, 1 year in 3rd grade, and 1 year as a math intervention teacher. My love for teaching math started to develop during college. It was then that I realized math was much more than memorizing procedures and steps. I love to lead students to a gaining a deeper understanding of math through small group activities and games.
As a child I attended and graduated from Bullitt County Public Schools. I have a strong sense of pride in our community, which has in turn inspired my goals of leading our kids to success. I earned a Bachelor Degree in Sociology and a Master Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Louisville. I taught 3 years at Pleasant Grove Elementary, and then became a CES Trailblazer when our school opened in 2010.
I have been married to my husband, Erick for 11 years. We are blessed with two daughters, Lannah and Kinnely, who attend Crossroads Elementary. We have a dog named Lodi and a hermit crab named Bella. We love to go camping and boating in the summer.
